The amount we report on the 1099-K is the total charges processed on the account. This includes the additional 5% for supporters that opt to cover the platform fee on your behalf. So for example, if there were $10,000 in pledges collected, and $400 additionally from some number of supporters that added 5% to their pledge, the total reported on the 1099 would be $10,400.

We recommend speaking with a tax specialist to make sure you're taking the appropriate deductions, but generally speaking you can deduct he entire difference between the total charges processed and the net amount you received as "fees" when you file your taxes.
